ASHI Western Washington chapter held its 2015 Fall Seminar

104 inspectors attended the 2015 Fall ASHI Western Washington seminar

The ASHI Western Washington chapter held its 2015 Fall Seminar on September 11 and 12, 2015, in Shoreline, Wa.  104 attendees, one of the chapter’s largest seminars to-date!  Most attendees are licensed Washington State home inspectors.  There were also folks from Hawaii, Alaska, Idaho, and Oregon.

John Bouldin, PhD. and ASHI Certified Inspector traveled from Blacksburg, Virginia as our out-of-state expert.  John made presentations on Engineered Wood Products, Trusses, and Decks.  He addressed the group Friday and Saturday.  Great Presentations.

There were also presentations about siding (Paul Merrick, regional sales manager/LP Building Products; risk management (Aaron Menlove, InspectorPro E&O carrier; Roof Flashings (Hugh Kelso and Don McFeron, ASHI Certified Inspectors and chapter members);  Kitec Plumbing, Brian Connolly/NW Mechanical;  How Good Houses go Bad (Larry Stamp, ASHI Certified Inspector and chapter member).

We want to thank all of our presenters for their participation and the information relayed to all attendees, and to thank all the attendees who spent a great boating and hiking weekend in the seminar.  We all welcome the cooler, wetter weather that we are famous for out here in Seattle.

A mortar wash as shown here will crack allowing water to get into the chimney itself. Cycles of freezing and thawing can ultimately cause damage to both the brick and the fireclay liner. As with most […]
  • FHA and Fannie: Pushing Foreclosure Sales
I just read today that FHA is lifting their ban on property flipping by investors for one year. Currently investors cannot buy and sell property within 90 days. FHA apparently wants to get mounting foreclosures off the books by opening up the market to investors who can fix up a property and resell it to […]
